The Yoga of Eating Pineapples & Bananas

So, its early January.  (Wait… now its February!)  I didn’t eat as poorly as I did over the holidays, but I threw clean eating out completely the window.


It’s time to get back on track.  I do this not to lose weight (although I would be thrilled to go down a size.)  I just like the way I feel when I eat clean(er.)  It helps with inflammation, my blood pressure, my depression, blood sugar, and pretty much every lab test my doctor makes me take annually.


Now, I brought a container of fresh pineapple and a banana to work today.  I am sure this, along with a meat stick will make an adequate lunch.  However, I look outside.  It is snowing and a frigid 19 degrees.  Suddenly a  cheesy, garlic covered cal


zone delivered directly to my desk sounds amazing.  This is what I want.  Or, do I?


To talk myself out of giving in to what will not benefit my body today, a begin to look up all of the amazing benefits of my chosen fruits.  Here is just a tiny portion of what I found:


            -Bananas help overcome depression due to high levels of tryptophan, which is converted into serotonin -- the happy-mood brain neurotransmitter.


-Pineapples contain bromelain, an enzyme that may help arthritis pain by easing inflammation.


-Bananas reduce swelling, protect against type II diabetes, aid weight loss, strengthen the nervous system, and help with the production of white blood cells, all due to high levels of vitamin B-6.


-Pineapples are a good source of vitamin C, which helps your immune system.


-High in potassium and low in salt, bananas are officially recognized by the FDA as being able to lower blood pressure and protect against heart attack and stroke



Needless to say, two fruit never tasted so good.
